This project was initiated by the School of Agricultural Science of the University of Tasmania. Professor Rob Clark and Dr. David Russell took the decision to apply for a Commonwealth grant to generate Year 11, 12 science resources targeting chemistry and physics students. The staff of this school has been most supportive at all levels during the program.

Launceston College under Mr Graham Speight happily released Mr Jason Dicker to research and write the project to be completed from February to May 2001 inclusive.

Tasmanian Poppy Industry

Employees of Tasmanian Alkaloids have been extremely helpful in compiling details on the Tasmanian Poppy Industry. In particular, I must thank Dr. Tony Fist, Manager of Agricultural Research and Development, for giving me time, showing me around and helping me with many details. Also at Tasmanian Alkaloids, Dr. Sam Bailey, Chemical R&D Manager, has been of great help in eliciting the molecular structures of the opiates.

At GlaxoSmithKline, Dr. Paul Cotterill has briefed me with their procedures and provided me with maps all of which I have incorporated into the site.

Remote Sensing

Dr. Rachel Barrett of the University of Tasmania has been the key support. Her enthusiasm and support through providing me willingly with images has made this site most interesting.

Wine Industry

Nick Butler of Holm Oak has been my mentor for this site. He has been a tremendous help. I suspect he came to fear my phone calls and presence after a while. ( I must remember to return his books.)

Duncan Farquar of the Department of Primary Industry has also come to my rescue by providing climatic charts for Tasmania.

Essential Oils

This could not have been done with out the generous assistance of Rob McEldowney of EOT. He has been most patient with my inane questions and inappropriate statements and molecules.

Jak Denny of Rosny College has also been of great help.

Instrumentation

The University's Central Science Laboratory staff has been fantastic in their comments and support. I particularly thank Drs. Noel Davies, Graham Rowbottom, Evan Peacock and David Steele.
